Okegoal.com - Abha – In a commanding performance, Al Nassr secured their place in the Saudi Super Cup final with a decisive 2-0 victory over Al Taawoun. Cristiano Ronaldo, the talismanic forward, once again proved his worth by contributing to the scoreline.

The Saudi Super Cup semifinal between Al Taawoun and Al Nassr took place on the evening of Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium.

EARLY STRIKE! Al Nassr wasted no time in asserting their dominance, opening the scoring just seven minutes into the match. Ayman Yahya found the back of the net, setting the tone for the evening.

The goal was the result of a well-executed attack initiated by Sadio Mane. Mane’s darting run down the left flank culminated in a precise cutback into the penalty area.

Though Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to connect, it was Yahya who capitalized, coolly slotting the ball past the Al Taawoun goalkeeper. The scoreboard read 1-0 in favor of Al Nassr at halftime.

DOUBLE THE LEAD! The second half saw Al Nassr extend their lead in the 57th minute, courtesy of none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar delivered yet again, finding the net after connecting with a driven cross from Sultan Alghanam within the penalty box. With this, Al Nassr solidified their advantage to 2-0.

As the clock ticked towards full time, Al Nassr’s head coach opted to rest some of the team’s key players, including Ronaldo and Mane.

However, their victory was not without its challenges. Al Nassr was reduced to 10 men during injury time following a red card shown to Marcelo Brozovic.

Despite having a numerical advantage, Al Taawoun could not find the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game. The match concluded with Al Nassr emerging victorious with a 2-0 scoreline.

This triumph propels Al Nassr into the final of the Saudi Super Cup, where they will face their fierce rivals, Al Hilal, who advanced after a penalty shootout victory against Al Ahli.

Al Taawoun: Mailson; Fahad bin Jumayah, Andrei Girotto, Waleed Al-Ahmed, Saad Al Nasser; Ashraf El Mahdioui, Mohammed Al Kuwaykibi, Flavio, Ahmed Bahusayn, Musa Barrow; Joao dos Santos.
